    Twenty-seven students from Warsaw Christian School competed in the Association of Christian Schools International Speech Meet held in Kokomo.

Blue ribbons (superior rating) were won by Sherry Bowdler, Rachel Landrum, Stephen Slaughter, Michael McCaman, Hanni Miller, Suzanne Eaton, Landon Miller, Jaimee Smith, Carus Shaffer, Emily Rudolph, Jason Henthorn, Matthew Clinger, Andrew Warner, Justin Hartman, David Hoffert, Andy Plank, Jahna Swanson, Amy Doran, Ben Yeager and Jeannine Bowdler.

    Members of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union recently held a poster and essay contest for the youth of the community. Receiving awards are Robin Enyeart, first place; Theresa May, third; Cheryl Gephard, honorable mention; Steve Koontz, honorable mention; Diana Horn, first place; Doug Rheinheimer, honorable mention; Carolyn Daghlian, second place; Donald Moza, honorable mention; Lisa Snider, third.

    Carolyn Knight, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marlin H. Knight, 741 E. Fort Wayne St., Warsaw, has been pledged to Alpha Gamma Delta sorority at Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ky.

    A classical ballad just off the press of a large musical publishing house, titled, "My Heart Yearns for You," was written, both words and music, by F.L. Huffaker, instructor in music at Burket High School. The song was received with high favor by music critics.
