The promotion of three firefighters was recently announced by Warsaw Fire Department chief Ken Shepherd.
In a classic lost and found story, Leo Florey, an employee of Miller and Sons Lumber Co., Silver Lake, was working on a Warsaw sewer line one day recently when he found a 1961 Beaver Dam (yes, there was a high school there at one time) class ring bearing the initials J.S. He wanted to return the ring to the rightful owner but didn't know where to start. He contacted Mr. and Mrs. Archie Leckrone, Mentone, and they checked their 1961 Beaver Dam annual. After narrowing the possible field, the Leckrones called Mr. and Mrs. Orval Swick, who verified the ring belonged to their daughter, Jean (Swick) Moore, of Swayzee. Mrs. Moore said the ring was lost in 1963.
Thomas Slough has been chosen to become a member of the Phi Rho Sigma (medical) fraternity. He is attending the medical school at Indianapolis.
Henry Simpson, 70, a carpenter and bachelor, who lives in a small house at the east edge of Akron, paid two fines of $5 each and costs which totaled $38 for having in his possession a gill net.
