    Silver Lake Elementary students launched about 220 helium-filled balloons as part of the Weekly Reader Balloon Contest. The ballons have messages plus the sender's name and school attached to them. The object is to see what school can claim to longest-traveling balloon.

    Gene and Sheila Berghorn, owners of the new sweetshop, Palace of Sweets in Syracuse, designed the interior in a theme reminiscent of the 1920s. Forty flavors of ice cream can be found at the two-story building.

    A summary of the operations of the Winona Interurban Railway for the year 1921, shows the gross revenue to be $12,260.54 less than for the year 1920. It shows 97,000 less passengers were handled in city car operation. interurban passenger business shows a shortage of 27,514 passengers. The automobile is largely responsible for the shortage.
