    WINONA LAKE - After capturing the NAIA Division II National Championship with a total team effort, a couple of the individuals responsible for the success of the Grace College men's basketball team are starting to reap awards for their efforts.

Lancer coach Jim Kessler has been honored as the 1991-92 NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Coach of the Year, while junior Scott Blum has been selected as an NAIA Division II First-Team All-American.

    Kosciusko County Cub Scouts winners in the annual District Pinewood Derby are: consolation round, Paul Schacts, first place; Rick Shepherd, seconds; and Craig Stouder, third. Championship winners are, Chip Stookey, first; Charlie Daisy, second; and Todd Watkins, third. There were 41 entries in the county-wide competition held in the Leesburg Elementary School gym.

March 28 1952

    The Jet White Groceteria, 111 S. Buffalo St. in the heart of Warsaw's downtown business district, was damaged to the extent of many thousands of dollars early Saturday morning when the second floor brick wall in the rear of the building collapsed and crashed through the roof. Glen Emerick, manager of the groceteria, said he would be unable to estimate the total damage until a complete survey is made.

    Joe Thorn, West Jefferson Street, will observe his eighty-fourth birthday anniversary. His daughter, Hazel Helen Nettleton, Chicago, motored here and is a guest at the Thorn home.
