    During a discussion about how lightly people take emergency telephone numbers, Pierceton Town Council member Tom Barker told a story of answering the town's fire emergency phone only to get a woman from Noblesville wanting tourist information. "She wanted to know if we had a bed and breakfast in town," Barker said. He asked her if she realized she was on the fire department line; she responded, "Yes, that's why I called because I figured you'd know about things in town."

    Five Kosciusko County women may keep local television viewers up late tonight (March 20) if the sets are tuned to Channel 21, WPTA, in Fort Wayne.

Rosemary Parsons, Jo Anne Dickey, Barbara Sledge, Vicki Shepherd and Maxine Wiley will represent the county on the annual March of Dimes telerama from 11:30 p.m. today until 6 p.m. Sunday.

    Winners in the essay contest for high school pupils, sponsored by the Warsaw unit of the American Legion Auxiliary, are Margaret Griswold and Jesse Deloe Jr., students in the senior high school, and Sally Jo Van Osdol and Richard Campbell, pupils in the junior high school. Announcement of the winners is made by Mrs. John Sutton, Americanism chairman of the auxiliary.

    W.E. Beebe, Warsaw grocer, filed his declaration of candidacy for the Republican nomination as county assessor. Beebe ran second at the previous election. The same candidates, S.V. Robison and Clark Hatfield, are again in the field.
