    Sharon Burns, executive director of the Kosciusko County chapter of the American Red Cross, presented Frances Head with the Governor's Voluntary Action Community Service Award. Head spends six to nine months a year working at disaster sites, such as recovery efforts of Hurricane Andrew in Florida and Louisiana, hail storms in Texas and disasters in Indiana. She also teaches classes for the Red Cross and helped write the group's county emergency plan.

    Sara L. Thompson, senior at Ball State University, has completed a three-month internship with the Allen County Juvenile Probation Department, Fort Wayne, as part of her class work at Ball State.

Thompson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cole Thompson, Silver Lake, will receive an undergraduate degree in social work and criminal justice and corrections.

    On the honor roll at Indiana University at Bloomington, was listed Philip L. Nine, of Route 2, Syracuse. To be on the honor list, a student must achieve the average of "B" or above.

    D.A. "Al" Bowman has accepted a position as salesman for the Lake City Chevrolet auto agency here and will begin with his new employers Monday. Bowman for the past six years has been auto salesman for the Overmeyer Ford Agency here.
