    Marine Cpl. Paul Alber, son of Mark Alber and Kay Eiler of Rochester, recently received the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal.

The medal recognizes the service member's honest and faithful service during a three-year period. To earn it, Alber maintained a satisfactory level of performance and an unblemished conduct record for the entire period.

    The Agnes Pruyn Chapman Chapter of the DAR has announced the winners of the American History Essay contest. The subject of the essays was, "A Military Leader Of The Battle Of Yorktown." The winners were: fifth grade, Pam Barnett, Washington School, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Barnett; sixth grade, Sharon Flannery, Madison School, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Flannery; seventh grade, Amy Kiger, middle school, daughter of Mr. and Mrs John Kiger; and eighth grade, Angela Ryman, middle school, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Ryman.

    Joan Gordon, of WRSW, displayed a large lemon picked by Mrs. Eman Parson, of Warsaw, while in Florida. The lemon was 6 by 6-1/2 inch.

    Conrad's Garage has a special of seven gallons of gas for $1. Kerosene is 8-1/2 cents per gallon.
