March 23 1995

    The South Bend Chapter of the American Culinary Federation hosted its second annual Hot food Competition at South Bend's Century Center. Participating in the competition were local chefs Nancy and Alexis Sideris, of Warsaw.

The Sideris team, who were participating in their first-ever such competition, were awarded a silver medal by the ACF. No gold was awarded.

March 23 1980

    The Kosciusko County Rural Youth girls' basketball team won the District II Rural Youth contest recently and will play in the state tourney March 29-30 at Purdue University. Team members are Deb Starbuck, Jo Klotz, Paula Albert, Leslie Shenefield, Monica Austin, Dawn Shrum and Anita Folk.

March 23 1955

    Dean Yarian, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Yarian, 1023 E. Main St., was one of 24 seniors at DePauw University, in Greencastle, who were notified of their election to Phi Beta Kappa, national scholarship honorary.

Yarian is a graduate of Warsaw High School.

    Faye Crites, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Crites of this city who is a senior at Indiana University has been elected to membership in the Pi Lambda Theta the national honorary scholarship sorority of the Indiana University School of Education.
