March 22 1995

    The Mentone eighth-grade girls basketball team won a four-way tourney at Akron March 4. The Bulldogs won with wins over Triton and Argos to win the title. Members of the team are Amy Holbrook, Zaren Dotson, Christine Snipes, Selina Maish, Dawn Poe, Jenny Sanders, Joy Stutzman, Angela Cook, Janet Randall, Amy Nellans, Brooke Fisher, Carrie Whetstone and Sabrina Newsome. Their coach was Mike Hoyt.

March 22 1980

    Bill Patrick, whose Whitko High School basketball team achieved its first unbeaten regular season ever, has been voted District 2 Coach of the Year by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association.

In 14 years as a head coach at three schools, Patrick has never had a losing season. In nine years at Whitko, Patrick's teams have compiled an overall record of 141-58.

March 22 1955

    Six winners in the Red Cross campaign poster contest supervised by Edna Olson in the Warsaw schools were announced by Mrs. William L. Kreicker, Junior Red Cross chairman.

From 53 entries submitted, the following were selected: Linda Truman and Doris Fawley, seventh grade; Maureen Moore and Terry McCutcheon, eighth grade; Jeanne Zolman, ninth grade; and Marjorie Bumbaugh, senior high school.

    Marshall Kirk returned to Indianapolis today after spending the weekend here with his mother, Bessie Frary. Kirk is a student at the John Herron Art Institute of Indianapolis.
