    Good ol' Willard Scott promoted a Kosciusko County town while doing his weather show on the "Today Show" on NBC. The off-the-wall weatherman wore a Mentone Bulldog shirt promoting the school's science fair. He wore the shirt during the local 8:30 a.m. broadcast.

    ASHLAND, Ohio - Kerry Scott, Winona Lake, is co-anchorman of "Up-Date News" on Ashland College's cable television station, WRDL-TV2.

Scott, a junior, majoring in religion and radio-television, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Scott, of 402 Robson Road, Winona Lake. He is a graduate of Warsaw Community High School.

    Janice Reed, Sharon Phillips, Beverly Ingalls, Maureen Moore, Nancy Linn, Claudia Fribley and Leta Shufelt have been named first-place winners in the poster contest in which Warsaw and Winona Lake Girl Scouts participated. There were 73 entries in the contest held in connection with the observance of the 40th anniversary of the Girl Scouts of America.

    Marie Dederick of the Epworth League of the Methodist Church, was made president of the Union Council of Christian Endeavor Societies at the meeting held at the Christian Church. Other officers elected are as follows: John Snell, Baptist, first vice president and chairman of executive committee; Margaret Barr, Methodist, second vice president; William Colisson, Winona Presbyterian, secretary.
