Elizabeth Brunner and Mandy Perzanowski were winners in the regional finals of the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Contest held in Mishawaka. The duo will compete in the state finals later this month in Indianapolis.
Five high school athletes received Most Valuable Player Awards at Wawasee winter sports recognition night. They are Kathi Replogle, girls' basketball; Tracy Rinker, gymnastics; Keith Cripe, boys' basketball; Bill Rosenkranz, swimming; and Mitch Oulsey, wrestling.
Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Kay, and son, Ronald, and Earle Johnson, were local fishermen in a party that caught 300 pounds of snapper and grouper on one expedition 22 miles out from Bradenton, Fla., recently. The Kays have received a clipping from the newspaper in which their luck was cited.
Rebecca Groninger, North Manchester, mother of Thomas Groninger, Warsaw, recently celebrated her 89th birthday anniversary. Her husband, Lewis Groninger, died 22 years ago and she has five sons and three daughters surviving.
