    Jennifer Mithoefer recently received national recognition in the 1990 Jr. All-American and All American Guernsey contests, with eight Jr. All-American nominations and five All-American nominations. Mithoefer was second in the country for number of nominations in the prestigious 37th annual contest.

Mithoefer has been showing Guernseys for 10 years and is a member of the Claypool Classics 4-H Club. She is the daughter of Dan and Loretta Mithoefer, Claypool.

    Navy Gunner's Mate Technician Seaman Douglas M. Vanness, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Hawn of Pierceton, and Navy Aviation Boatswain's Mate Airman Apprentice Richard A. Abbott, son of Mrs. Marcele Mathys of Leesburg, are taking part in a five-nation naval exercise off the California coast as a crewmember of the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise.

Named "Valiant Heritage" to commemorate America's Bicentennial, the exercise involves 41 ships, 200 aircraft and more than 18,000 men.

    Thedia Michael, a Milford nurse, has enlisted in the navy and will report for duty on March 30 at Great Lakes, Ill. Michael is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P.R. Michael, of Milford. She has resigned from the staff of the Elkhart General Hospital.

    Hiram D. Mock, of North Webster, mails a remittance for renewal of his subscription and in his letter stated:

"I have read The Indianian and Times for 50 or 60 years, or ever since I could read a newspaper. Father took it when we were little boys. Sometimes we would have a little scrap who would get the paper first. Can't keep house without it, so let her come."
