    Led by nine first-place finishers, the Warsaw Tiger Wrestling Club turned in an impressive performance in its own Freestyle Tournament held at Warsaw Community High School.

Leading the way for the club with first-place efforts were William Eloph, Aaron Chabot, Kevin Carr, Mark Carey, Ricky Marrufo, Greg Patrick, Darrell Carr, Carl Hartwell and Lester Booher.

    BLOOMINGTON - Sophomore Mike Hoover left a trail through the Warsaw Community High School track and field record book Saturday as he set a Tiger pole vault mark and won qualification in the Hoosier Relays at Indiana University.

Hoover had the second best pole vault mark with a 13-6 mark which is a new indoor Tiger record. The previous indoor best was 12-6.

    Walter Bowsher Jr., 38, son of Estella Stookey, E. Sheridan Street, and W.A. Bowsher Sr., Gary, retired last month after 20 years of service with the Marine Corps. He has two Purple Hearts - the first earned on Wake Island, the second in Korea.

    Mrs. A.L. Byler, of North Buffalo Street, was hostess to members of her bridge club Friday afternoon. Mrs. Earl Mishler and Mrs. Virgil Smith were guests of the club. In the playing, Mrs. George Houser won the prize for high score. The hostess served delicious refreshments and the club adjourned to meet next week with Mrs. Waid Arnold.
