A 12-year-old Silver Lake boy, who steered his mother's car to safety after a freak accident, is a hero this morning.
Nora Macon, of Winona Lake, has been named Warsaw's Young Career Woman for 1980 by the Warsaw Business and Professional Women's Club. Macon will compete with six other Young Career Women at the BPW district meeting March 15 at the Lincoln Highway Inn, Mishawaka. She will present her views on "What decision must be made within the decade to enhance the overall achievement of women?"
Pvt. Dean Horrick, who is stationed at Stuttgart, Germany, with an army band, has been wishing he had his car so he and a buddy could use it for a tour of Italy during May. Tuesday Dean's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Garrold Horrick, delivered the car to a pier in New York City for shipment overseas as soon as space is available.
Mrs. Fred Curtis won the Central Shoe Co. tournament contest string length guessing contest. She guessed 63 feet four inches, missing the actual length but by two inches. A box of silk stockings were awarded her. Robert Breading guessed the exact number of total points scored in the tournament, 488, and won his choice of any pair of shoes in the Central Shoe Store.
