    The Warsaw Community High School DECA chapter placed fourth at the state DECA contest recently. DECA contestants Dave Justice, Reuben Reyna and Christie Hartman will represent Indiana in the National DECA contest to be held in San Jose, Calif., in April.

    The Agnes Pruyn Chapman Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution recently sponsored an essay contest in which students wrote on one particular character of the revolution. Of 116 contestants, three emerged as winners and will go on to a state-wide contest sometime in the spring. Winners are Holly Meyers, 10, fifth grade at Jefferson; Diane Sallee, 13, Warsaw Junior High School; and Nancy Johnson, 12, sixth grade at Leesburg Elementary. Each one received a medal and a certificate.

    Jo Ann Rice, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Rice, Porter Street, is pledged to the Beta Sigma chapter of the Sigma Kappa sorority at Purdue University, where she is a student.

March 2 1925

    Charles Barnhart, proprietor of the bathing beach at Yellow Bans, took an unexpected bath last week. Barnhart went out on the Webster lake ice near where Alfred Kuhn was fishing, when he broke through in about 10 feet of water. Clinging to the ice it broke off every time he lunged to crawl upon it. Finally Kuhn pushed his fish pole to him and the rescue was effected.
