    AKRON - The Mentone eighth-grade girls basketball team won the Akron Tournament Saturday.

Mentone beat Triton 43-30 in the first round. Julianne Tucker led Mentone with 16 points and 15 rebounds; Keri Overmeyer had 15 points, seven assists and five steals; Melody Jones had eight points and five steals; and Shanon Sexton had four points.

    Scot Wiley, 15-year-old son of Don F. and Maxine Wiley, of 815 E. Fort Wayne St., Warsaw, has been selected as a delegate to the regional youth conference of the March of Dimes.

Wiley is a student at Warsaw Freshman High School, and his mother is director of the Kosciusko County March of Dimes.

    Pfc. Charles F. Lursen graduated this week from the Air Force communications school at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, it is announced by the base commander, Col. George W. Pardy. Graduating from a fundamental course in radio mechanics, Charles will perform installations and maintenance of airborne communications equipment. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Lursen, 513 S. Indiana St., Warsaw. He was graduated from Leesburg High School.

    R.E. Patton, who is employed as cashier at the Big Four freight office, brought to The Times an old group photo, taken more than 40 years ago, which shows Pennsylvania employees and also City Marshal C.B. Moon, and Night Officer Winebrenner. The others in the group are the late William E. Ripple, Harry Miller, Operator James Anglin and Operator Fox. It was a good-looking group when taken, but now - well, not so good.
