    SOUTH WHITLEY - Rachel Brown, a senior who averaged 14 points and 11 rebounds a game for the Whitko Wildcat basketball team this season, has been selected to play in the Hoosier Small-School All-Star game.

The game will be played at South Bend John Adams High School.

March 18 1981

    VALPARAISO - Jack Walters of Manchester is one of 16 players named to the state all-academic basketball team by the state coaches association.

The 6-4 senior averaged 12.9 points for the Squires, who had their winningest season ever with a 21-2 record. Walters is the second area player to make the team in as many seasons as Whitko's Neal Frantz was selected last year.

March 18 1956

    K.E. Foreman and B.D. Miner, both railway express drivers of Warsaw, were presented with safe driving awards by the National Safety Council. The awards were presented at a ceremony held here by R.C. Craig, railway express agent. This was Foreman's ninth year of accident free driving. Miner has been driving thee years with no accidents.

March 18 1931

    Approximately 350 athletic fans attended the wrestling and boxing match at the armory Wednesday evening.

George Fisher, Warsaw High School coach, and Jack McCarthy, of St. Louis, another champion wrestler, put on a three-fall exhibition, the winner having to secure two out of three falls in two hours time. Fisher was the winner.
