    DENVER, Ind. - Four area senior basketball players were named to the first team of the Three Rivers Conference Boys Basketball All-Conference Team.

Mike Bazzoni and Dusty Bellows of Manchester, along with Scott Johnson of Tippecanoe Valley and Chad Darley of Whitko joined four other TRC players on the first team.

    Robert Jordan and Ernest Watkins received trophies from Heart Association member Maggie McPeak which were won in the recent Heart Fund Benefit Tournament at Gilliam Lanes, Warsaw. Jordan won actual high series scratch with a score of 634, and Watkins won high series with handicap. His score was 671.

    Duke Fisher, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Fisher, of near Leesburg, and Bill Cryderman, son of Rev. and Mrs. Dale Cryderman, Winona Lake, were initiated into the Warsaw chapter of the National Junior Honor Society.

March 18 1927

    James F. Newby, Claypool, better known as "Doc" Newby, completed 45 years active and continuous service for the Nickle Plate Railroad on March 14, 1926.

When the Nickle Plate Railroad was built through Claypool, Newby was the first man to draw a month's salary from this company, at Claypool. The road was built through Claypool in 1882. His first employment was that of crossing watchman.
