    WINONA LAKE - National Champions.

Two little words sum it all up today for fans of the Grace College men's basketball team, crowned NAIA Division II national champions last night. The Lancers put it all on the line, blood, sweat and tears, to edge Northwestern of Iowa 85-79 in a scintillating overtime contest in Stephenville, Texas.

    Virginia Williamson, Merrywood Park, Warsaw, was recently honored for 35 years service with United Telephone Co.

She joined United in 1942 as an operator at Portland, and transferred to Warsaw in 1958. She currently holds the position of service analyst in United's general traffic department.

    Mrs. Louise Byland, Syracuse, has accepted a position as chief operator at the Pierceton telephone exchange and will take up her new duties March 16. Her son, Louis, is a cheer leader for Syracuse High School. Mrs. Byland has had long experience in telephone exchange operation in Warsaw, Syracuse and North Webster.

March 16 1927

    Two Warsaw boys, members of the Warsaw School Band, will have the honor of playing in a band of 250 pieces at a meeting of school band directors of 11 of the north-central states, to be held, the week before Easter at Springfield, Ill. The boys are Clifford Menzie, who plays a clarinet, and Carl Weick, who plays a cornet in the Warsaw band. Both are talented musicians and have shown much progress under the training of their director, Phil Farren.
