    Four local members of the YMCA-ATA Taekwonda Club recently competed in a regional tourney. Earning trophies were Jack Caudill, first in VIP 2nd degree men's sparring; Greg Caudill first in men's white belt one-step sparring; Tim Hori, third in junior white belt one-step sparring and third in junior white belt forms; and Suzi Caudill, second in VIP women's third degree sparring and third in VIP women's forms.

March 16 1975

    Two local women, Times-Union City Editor Jo Rector and Akron-Mentone News Editor Ann Sheetz, each won three awards for their newspaper work from the Women's Press Club of Indiana.

Rector's award included second place in the Hoosier competition for special editions, third place for interpretive reporting and third place for a news story. Sheetz was honored with first-place awards for the best personal column and page makeup and received second place for an interview.

March 16 1950

    Here's a sign of spring - a flock of several hundred geese, honking madly and flying in everchanging formations, was sighted over Lake Wawasee late Sunday afternoon. The flock was headed north.

March 16 1925

    The old Center Ward School bell, weighing 750 pounds, which since 1889 up to a few years ago, called Warsaw pupils to the old Center Ward School, was today sold for junk to M. Levin. The bell was taken out of the old building, which was razed, and has been stored with W.W. Lowman for past several years in his storage place. Today he sold it to pay storage charges.
