    SILVER LAKE - The Silver Lake volunteer firefighters voted Alan "Hoss" Clark as the 1991 fireman of the year.

Clark received a gold badge and a wooden plaque for his award. He has been serving with the department for 20 years.

March 16 1976

    Brian McCleary, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald McCleary, Rt. 6, Warsaw, has been selected to play with the 100-piece Indiana Bandmasters Association All-State Band which will perform in Clowes Memorial Hall on the Butler University Campus at Indianapolis. Brian, a member of the Warsaw Community High School tuba section, was selected from hundreds of students who auditioned from all over the state.

March 16 1951

    Warsaw High School won its most honors on the Northeastern all-conference basketball teams since 1947 as the conference coaches placed Whitley Bell on the first team, Dave Burke on the second team, and gave Bill Rhoades honorable mention.

Bell, junior standout who captured the conference individual scoring title with a remarkable 154 points in seven games, became the first Warsaw player named to the first five since Norm Anderson made it in 1947.

    Five pupils of the Warsaw High School won honors in the Kosciusko County Latin contest conducted her several weeks ago. The results were as follows: Beginners - First, Gevena Knapp, Sidney; second, Vernon Van Dyke, Warsaw. Caesar - First, Claire Chapman, Warsaw; second, Genita Smith, Warsaw; third, Lois Hale, Sidney. Cicerto - First, Roselyn Wones, Warsaw; second, Carolyn Wones, Warsaw.
