    BLOOMINGTON - A group trying to inform residents at Indiana University how to save energy by monitoring electrical usage is being led by a 1990 graduate of Warsaw Community High School.

Lyn Hartman is coordinator of Student Environmental Action Coalition. The program was initiated at Harvard last year, and is taking place this year in the 11 residence halls. Each month the hall using the least electricity is awarded a ceremony and the Ecolympics traveling trophy.

    Two students from Warsaw Community High School have been selected as members of the 1977 Indiana Bandmasters Association All-State High School Band. Jane Crawford, trumpet, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Crawford. Sharon Copeland, clarinet, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Coplen. Three additional students from the WCHS band were selected as alternates: Ken Hampton, tenor sax; Tim Hoffert, clarinet; and Kathy Stauffer, trombone.

    Kenneth Rhodes, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. Noble Rhodes, Nappanee, has been promoted to the rank of sergeant. He has been in Korea the past six months with the 51st Fighter Interceptor wing of the Air Force. Kenneth enlisted Sept. 17, 1950, and trained at Sheppard and Chanute Air Force bases before going overseas.

    The Uda Campfire Girls met Thursday with Marjorie Bolinger of North Lake Street. Mary Elizabeth Simcoke won the highest number of honors and Frances Nusbaum second highest in the honor contest which closed yesterday. Plans were made for a hike to be held Tuesday afternoon after school.
