    INDIANAPOLIS - Missing graduation was definitely worth it for Warsaw senior Darlene Fussle Friday night.

Fussle, who opted to compete in the IHSAA State Track and Field Championships, replaced her diploma with a fifth-place finish in the 800-meter run when she posted a personal best time of 2:17.11.

    Mrs. Kenneth (Freida) Priser was honored by The Salvation Army with a certificate of appreciation given for 35 years of faithful service to The Salvation Army League of Mercy work in both Saint Louis, Mo., and in Warsaw, where she has served for five years.

June 9 1954

    Maurice F. Brosnahan, 90-year-old resident of Pierceton, recently applied for his first Social Security card, commenting as he did so: "The Lord has been good to me. I've always had good health." Then with a twinkle in his eye, he added, "Whenever they're short an angel up there, they call an Irishman. I guess there's no shortage."

He has been in business for himself since 1893 and hadn't realized that self-employed persons, like himself, became covered by Social Security on Jan. 1, 1951. He was too busy taking care of his insurance business.

    The Warsaw Pistol and Rifle teams participating in the State Bankers' Association contest at Fort Benjamin Harrison, virtually "cleaned the platter," for the marksmen came home with the silver cup, eight premiums and $5.50 money prizes. Those in attendance are Milo Maloy, George Mowery, Glen Harmon, Ora Stamper and Fred Straus.
