    INDIANAPOLIS - Warsaw's Jennifer Kintzel was named the female recipient of the Hinkle Award given each year to the outstanding female and male athlete, at the spring banquet at Butler University.

Kintzel, a sophomore volleyball player, also was nominated by Butler to be its academic-athlete representative in the Indianapolis Monthly magazine. The August edition will feature a representative from each university in the state of Indiana who best demonstrates the magazine's idea of a student-athlete.

    MUNCIE - Eve Welty, Etna Green, received a Governor's Award for her service and commitment to volunteering in the Ball State University Student Voluntary Services Program. She also was presented with a Mike Webb Award, which is given to exceptional volunteers who are graduating from the university this year.

She is a senior at Ball State and is majoring in special education. A graduate of Triton High School, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lowell G. Welty, Etna Green.

    Five members of the Indiana Association of Future Homemakers of America of this area will attend the national FHA convention to be held in Chicago.

Representing this district will be Dolores Cook and Betty Blainsdell, Bourbon; Maurine Smith, Milford; and Shari Campbell and Marilyn Creighton, Atwood.

June 9 1931

    The gasoline station war near Leesburg has assumed a humorous situation when several days ago the owner of land adjoining a station site erected a billboard which entirely obstructed the view of the gasoline station from one direction.

Persons passing the point that morning were amused to see that the owner of the gasoline station had erected another large billboard, entirely obstructing the view of the first billboard from one direction.
