    The Ladies Bridge Club of Tippecanoe Lake Country Club met with hostesses Karen Aker, Shirley Bricker and Grace Schmeiser.

Irene Benzenberg, Betty Beaman, Helen Hetler, Rosalee Spear, Mary Pfister, Joan Guyton, Frances Carr, Amber Christensen and Irma Sink won prizes. Pfister won the door prize.

    Two 10-speed bicycles were awarded by the Penguin Point Restaurants in Warsaw following a promotion in conjunction with the Indianapolis 500-mile race during the month of May. Winners were Terry Ritenour, Rt. 1, Warsaw, and Jack Wallen, Pierceton.

    Representing the Claypool high school at the North Webster Mermaid Festival, will be blond, blue-eyed, Dixie Shoemaker, 16-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alton Shoemaker. Miss Claypool is a junior in high school, and is competing for the coveted title, "Queen of the Lake."

    Under a scorching sun which broke all heat records for June 6 in this locality, thermometers in the sun here registered 115 degrees, while in the shade the official recording thermometer at the dispatcher's office under the watchful eye of Chief Dispatcher Fred Mathews hung around the 100 mark from noon until 2 p.m. when the high mark of 101 was still upward bound.
