June 30 1995

    Kirstin Pletcher, the daughter of Clint and Cheryl Pletcher, was named Kosciusko County Fair Queen. She competed among a dozen other contestants. She'll be a senior this year at Warsaw Community High School and will represent the county at the state fair contest later this summer.

June 30 1980

    Local optometrist Dr. Virgil McCleary was the goat literally in a recent unplanned outing at Rozella Ford Golf Club.

Seems Doc has a goat grazing in the back yard of his Ford Lane home for a reason which must border on the occult ... when it got away and quickly galloped toward brighter green (i.e. golf course). Ever alert, Doc hopped on his garden tractor and gave chase, but ole' Billy was a bit too much for him. It wasn't until the good doctor collared a few passing foursomes for assistance that he managed to collar the goat.

June 30 1955

    Beverly Rathbun, of Leesburg, was first place winner in the county 4-H food preparation judging contest held this morning in the women's building at the county fairgrounds.

Karen Latimer, of Beaver Dam, was second; Charlotte Stiner, of Monroe Township, third; and Marilyn Paton, Leesburg, fourth.

June 30 1930

    BOURBON - A society of former Bourbon residents was organized Sunday when 125 persons attended the second annual homecoming which was held in the township high school community building here. Clarence Tyrrell was chosen president, Mrs. Wilford Erwin, secretary, and Evah Anglin, treasurer.
