    Tippecanoe Valley High School golf standout Keith Ruberg recently signed a letter of intent to attend Grace College this fall. Ruberg was Valley's No. 1 player four straight years and will be going to a Grace program that is coming off its most successful season in school history.

June 28 1976

    Edson J. Moyer, Rt. 6, Chapman Lake, is the winner in the Warsaw "Design a Flag Contest," it was announced by Mayor H. Dale Tucker.

Moyer will receive a $100 U.S. Savings Bond and one 3x5-foot nylon flag of his design. The city will receive 20 3x5-foot nylon flags and a commemorative plaque engraved with Edson J. Moyer's name.

    Dotty Davis, this year's "Miss South Whitley," will compete in the "Queen of the Lakes" beauty contest at the annual Mermaid Festival in North Webster. Dotty is a popular 16-year-old junior at South Whitley High School, and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.A. Davis of South Whitley. She has light golden brown hair and grey eyes and is 5 feet, 2-1/2 inches tall.

    Independence Week was officially ushered in today noon by the tolling of the city bell in memory of the 150th birthday of the United States, the signing of the Declaration of Independence by Thomas Jefferson. Bert Sellers, fire truck driver, had the honor of tolling the city bell, on orders of Mayor John Hansman.
