Debbie Ransbottom was Miss Silver Lake Days last weekend during Silver Lake's annual festivities. First runner-up was Emily Burris and second runner-up was Kathy Wadkins.
This week the Times-Union published a photo of two men in Omaha driving a "people-powered vehicle," a three-wheeled machine created for the energetic, ecology-minded person who wants to beat both pollution and the gasoline shortage. Now Dick Barnes of Sun Metal Inc., Warsaw, tells us that the wheels on the self-powered vehicle were designed and are manufactured by the local firm.
Double honors were won by "Tromping Bob," Warsaw's state reserve champion last year in the Tennessee walking class, who competed in shows at both Kokomo and North Manchester. The prize Tennessee walker, owned by Mr. and Mrs. John Cook, of 603 E. Fort Wayne St., was awarded second place in the open class at Kokomo. At North Manchester's show he copped first place in a similar class.
The Pennsylvania Railroad System is offering a special round trip to Chicago for $2.75 Sunday. It leaves Warsaw at 6:45 a.m. and the returning train leaves Chicago at 7:30 p.m. Central time.
