    Ike, the German-bred award-winning German Shepherd dog owned by Randy Rhodes, is headed for international competition for the first time. Ike and Randy will travel to West Germany in September with a team of six other U.S. dogs to compete in the World Schutzhund Champions. Twenty-three countries will be represented at the event.

    Carl K. Doty, Route 2, Leesburg, has been named director of the Warsaw manufacturing division of R. R. Donnelley & Sons Co. He succeeds Wayne Helm, who was named director of the catalog module project in the company's corporate headquarters in Chicago.

    Frank Irvin had been missing young chickens from his flock, so he set a trap. The first night he got some feathers, the next night he set six traps and caught a large hoot owl by the foot. It had a wing spread measuring 53 inches.

    Throughout southern Indiana it is reported that chinch bugs have already moved from pasture lands and small grain crops to the corn and are very destructive. County agent Tom Parker reports that in this vicinity chinch bugs will be very plentiful within the next two weeks.
