    For the second year in a row, and for three out of the past four years, Whitko's FFA has won the Indiana 4-H/FFA livestock career development event at Purdue University.

Team members Nathan Wilson, Stephanie Warner, Cari Ostrom and Chad Schipper were first in swine judging and sheep judging and fourth in cattle.

June 23 1981

    Released by children of St. John's Vacation Bible School, LaPorte, Mary Stouder, 1845 E. Harris Road, Springhill Addition, Warsaw, found a balloon they had sent up Sunday. She found it at 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

June 23 1956

    Kenneth Showalter, 14, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Showalter, Route 4, received the Eagle Scout award in a court of honor held recently at the American Legion home.

He is a charter member and the first to reach Eagle rank in Troop 75, sponsored by the Legion.

June 23 1931

    David Livengood, son of the Rev. and Mrs. M.S. Livengood, this city, was winner of the state Bible storytelling contest held at the High Street Methodist Church in Muncie. He won over eight other contestants. Young Livengood received a gold medal for his success.
