    On his very first shot of the WRSW/Little Big Horn Semi-Celebrity Classic, the Times-Union's Paul Smith collected his first career hole-in-one.

Smith aced the No. 3, 160-yard par-3 hole with a six-iron. Smith's team went on to capture the team title of the tournament with a six-under par 30.

June 23 1980

    Thurman Wayne Metzger, a 13-year veteran of R.R. Donnelley and Sons Co., has earned the largest suggestion award ever given by the Warsaw Manufacturing Division: $10,838.

Metzger suggested a method for recycling photographic chemical fixer which was far more economical to install than the centralized reclamation system the division was considering for installation.

    Marilyn Sutton will be among the many entries in the Queen of the Lakes beauty contest to be held on the night of July 1 and 4 during the North Webster Mermaid Festival. Marilyn, 17, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Sutton, Leesburg. Competing as "Miss Leesburg," she weighs 102 pounds, stands 5 feet tall, has light brown hair and dark brown eyes.

    James M. Duncan, son of Dr. and Mrs. James Duncan, now attending the CMTC camp at Fort Harrison, was appointed color guard for the first review of the season. James is taking the white course at the camp. Ellmore Ausherman, of Warsaw, is also attending the four-week encampment.
