    Jean Northenor achieved an accomplishment that may be a first in Indiana, but would likely be difficult to prove.

For the third time, Northenor was honored by the governor's office with the Sagamore of the Wabash award for her efforts in public service.

    Mermaid Festival judges selected Jenna DeSomer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry DeSomer, Syracuse, and Kurt Newland, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Newland, Warsaw, Cutie Queen and King for 1977.

June 22 1952

    A couple of 15-year-old adventurers, David Casner, Winona Lake, and Rodney Fellows, Warsaw, have returned home, sunburned and full of the fish they caught and cooked on a five-day expedition in a flat boat down the Tippecanoe. Traveling an estimated 65 to 70 miles along the winding stream, they ended the journey at Leiter's Ford, 15 miles west of Rochester, where their parents, Mrs. Elizabeth Casner and Mr. and Mrs. Dayton Fellows, picked them up. They fought some ferocious mosquitoes and killed two snakes.

    J.W. Scott, Charlotte Vandermark, Lenore Kring and Mrs. Carl Bolton of the Commercial Telephone Co. of Warsaw, went to Wawasee Lake, where they will attend a telephone convention.
