    Matt Johnson and Tom Beno were major award winners for the Warsaw Community High School golf team in is just-completed season. Johnson and Beno were one-two in stroke average and became the 11th and 12th players at Warsaw to average less than 78 strokes per 18-holes in a season.

June 21 1972

    Steve Tarner, Leesburg, a 1972 Warsaw Community High School graduate, will wear the banner "Knight of Warsaw" during the Tournament of Knights at North Webster. Tarner was one of the leading cagers on this year's Warsaw Tiger squad, who carried a 20.5 average this season.

    Winner of eight consecutive games this season, the Warsaw A.A. softball club will meet the strong Milwaukee Royals at Milford Sunday afternoon. A capacity crowd is expected to be at the fine Milford softball diamond, erected last year. Members of the team include: Bob Caywood, Fred Gilliam, Fritz Wolferman, Gabby Garber, Bruce Howe, Ab Shively, Pat Garber, Bill Goshert, Merle Shively, Kenny Anderson, and Lew Goshert.

    The first cherries of the season are now on the local market and ths fruit was picked within the city limits of Warsaw. The fruit is selling at 15-cents a quart.
