    Kandace R. Tom, daughter of Paula Bowman and Kip Tom, had two drawings displayed at the Indianapolis 500 Museum during race weekend. She is a student of graphic design at the International Business College, Indianapolis, and will graduate in September.

June 21 1980

    The Town of Claypool will be celebrating "Wilda Garman Day" June 13 to honor long-time resident Wilda Garman, owner and proprietor of the Marathon gas station in downtown Claypool.

Garman, a familiar figure with the townspeople, is retiring after 50 years of service to the community. She took over the station after her husband Orval's death nearly 20 years ago.

June 21 1955

    Gordon Thompson, Carolyn Phillips and Robert Armstrong, Warsaw High School students who will serve as "ambassadors of good will" in Europe this summer under sponsorship of the American Field Service, leave Warsaw by bus Friday bound for New York.

Gordon is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Thompson, Carolyn's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Freeland Phillips, and Bob's are Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Armstrong.

    Donald Wolfe, 18, employed at the Kosciusko County farm, and son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Wolfe, of west of Warsaw, was awarded the Chevrolet sedan given away by the Thomson Chevrolet Sales.
