    WEST LAFAYETTE - Susan Dieterien of Nappanee has been inducted as a founding member of the Purdue chapter of Phi Beta Delta, an international honorary.

Faculty, undergraduate and graduate students from all of Purdue's schools are eligible. Students must have a minimum of a 3.5 grade point average and significant international experience through study or work in an international setting.

    Whitko second baseman Brett Patrick and Tippecanoe Valley right fielder Wayne Christenberry were first-team selections on the Three Rivers Conference baseball team chosen this week.

The two members were part of the 10-player first unit selected by the conference coaches.

June 20 1956

    Mary Miner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Miner, of Syracuse Lake, was crowned "Vacationland Jubilee Queen" Saturday night, winning over 10 contestants at the Syracuse celebration. Her attendants are Martha Firestone, who placed second, and Vivian Fisher, who was third. Miner will represent Syracuse in the Mermaid Festival queen contest at North Webster.

    The Warsaw city park board has promoted the construction of an open furnace to be used by picnickers in roasting meats and preparing meals. The furnace has been built on the sand beach near the place where the toboggan slide formerly stood. The park board also has authorized the construction of four horseshoe courts and is having a splendid baseball diamond made for public use.
