    MENTONE - Leading this year's Egg Festival parade will be longtime resident and business owner Wayne Bowser - the 1993 parade marshal.

Bowser was born and raised in Mentone and owned L&B Foods for 32 years. He's also known to many as the Avon man.

    PIERCETON - Menzie-Reece Unit 258, American Legion Auxiliary of Pierceton, has chosen to be represented at Hoosier Girls' State by Joan Hostetler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Hostetler, Pierceton, as delegate, and Jo Ellen Plew, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Plew, Pierceton, as alternate.

    Patricia Banic, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Banic, Bourbon, and Larry Baker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Baker, Bourbon, received eighth-grade citizenship award medals at the close of the school year.

    William G. Loehr's White Wyandottes again won the golden ribbon in the seventh annual egg laying contest being held at the Missouri Poultry Experiment Station at Mountain Grove, Mo.

During May, five hens laid 105 eggs; the hen that won the ribbon laid 27 eggs. The ribbon is awarded for 25 or more eggs.
