    A new helicopter landing pad was dedicated at Kosciusko Community Hospital Friday. The new helipad will make it easier and safer for the Samaritan helicopter to land at KCH. The helicopter made approximately 40 runs from KCH to Fort Wayne during the past year.

June 20 1980

    Marine Cpl. Paul T. Slone Jr., son of Edna and Paul T. Slone Sr., of Sidney, was promoted to his present rank while serving with 1st Marine Brigade, Marine Corps Air Station, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.

A 1975 Graduate of Whitko High School, South Whitley, he joined the Marine Corps in January 1976.

    Eloise Bilby, of Warsaw, top honor student, and Miriam Bernhardt, Winona Lake, president of the student council, were among 73 graduates of the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing who received diplomas at a service in the Broadway Methodist Church in Indianapolis.

Bilby is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul M. Bilby, Country Club Road, and Bernhardt is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lorenz Bernhardt, Winona Lake.

June 20 1930

    While testing the city fire pumper, two teams staged a water battle on South Buffalo street Friday evening. The one team was represented by "Dingie" Phillips, Loren Melick and "Link" Hay and the other was made up of Albert, Robert and "Mike" Hodges. The streams used were 75-pound pressure.
