    Julie Teel's owl monoprint was the $50 grand prize winner of the 11th annual Warsaw Community High School Art Exhibit held recently.

Sponsored by Tri Kappa Associate chapter, which supports student excellence in art, the art exhibit of more than 700 works was coordinated by WCHS art teachers Sara Robbins, Deborah Trausch and Sherry Sprouls, as well as art department coordinator Nancy Shoemaker.

    Mrs. Allen (Judy) Lowry, Big Chapman Lake, Rt. 6, Warsaw, caught a four-and-one-half pound bass her first day on the lake after obtaining her fishing license. She caught the lunker on a jointed pole using a nightcrawler for bait. The fish was 20-1/2 inches long and was caught off Hog Point at Big Chapman.

    Bonnie I. Miller, daughter of Mrs. Opal B. Miller, 115-1/2 W. Market St., Warsaw, was the recipient of the Sigma Alpha Iota Award made at the Honor Day Convocation at Indiana State Teachers' College.

The award is given to the student whom the fraternity selects as its most outstanding pledge.

    Two thousand gallons of ice cream was being made at the Collins ice cream factory in Warsaw in anticipation of the unprecedented demand for the frozen delicacy by the delegates attending the Brothren National Conference at Winona Lake. It is expected that upwards of 3,000 gallons of ice cream will be consumed at Winona in the next seven days of the Brethren conference, due to the unusually hot weather.
