    Word has it Jeff Pfeifer of Winona Lake did quite well in South Bend's Sunburst marathon. He finished 12th overall, but in his age category, 25-29, he was first. He completed the 26-mile trek in two hours, 49 minutes and 36 seconds. The race concluded at Notre Dame Stadium. For his efforts, Pfeifer got a medal.

    Michael Miner, Pierceton, a recent graduate of the Indiana University School of Law, has joined the law firm of Milo Lightfoot as an associate.

The new attorney is the son of Mrs. R. Lloyd Miner, Pierceton, and the late Lloyd Miner.

    Mrs. Lyle Stokes, of East Market Street, has returned from New York City, where she spent several days on business. She states that the book she has completed recently will be published early this fall. "Out of the Darkness" is the title Mrs. Stokes has chosen for her book, which is a fictional work. She is writing under the name Peg Stokes.

    The Metzger "stone road," the only highway of its kind in Kosciusko County, will soon be a thing of the past as Clarence A. Helvey, county highway superintendent, is rebuilding this thoroughfare into a first-class gravel road.

The road is a two-mile stretch located in Jackson township near the Wabash county line and extends into North Manchester in the neighborhood of the Big Four Railroad.
