June 17 1981

    Charles Lucas, 56, of Warsaw, was formally sworn in as a Warsaw police officer by Mayor Paul E. "Mike" Hodges. Lucas began his duties Sunday as park patrol for the city. He will be responsible for patrolling the parks, campgrounds and parking lots of the city during the summer months, and has full police powers.

June 17 1956

    Charles Ker, 22, of Warsaw, has been awarded a major letter in baseball at DePauw University in Greencastle.

Charles is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Ker, who reside at the corner of East Main Street and Maple Avenue. A senior with two previous baseball awards, Ker saw action in 18 of DePauw's 19 games, either in the outfield or on the mound. A right-hander, he hit .286 for the season.

    The Rev. George Thomas Oborn, youngest son of the Rev. and Mrs. J. Wesley Oborn of this city was awarded the degree of doctor of philosophy in Chicago University. Dr. Oborn graduated from the Warsaw High School with the highest average grade ever given up to that time.
