    Many Kosciusko County residents thought they were "freaking out" when their homes and cars started shaking. But it wasn't their minds playing tricks on them. It was a bona fide, 5.0 on the Richter scale, earthquake. Residents living near some of the many lakes reported bubbling and waves in the water.

June 17 1972

    Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Petrie, founders of the Wagon Wheel attended the opening dinner at the Wagon Wheel Restaurant. The Petries currently live in Sarasota, Fla. and and returned to Warsaw for the opening. Mrs. Petrie was a former well-known speech teacher at Warsaw Community High School.

    Santa Claus rode into Warsaw, minus his whiskers and sleigh during the hottest June day we've experienced so far this year when aged Conn Creary, dropped in to pay us a belated visit. The once guitar playing well-known Warsawan and Santa Claus to a generation of Warsaw kids, gained national prominence several years ago in his St. Nick role.

    Although we never peddle our ice cream outside of the Warsaw store, our cream business has increased 200 percent in the past year. Vanilla, chocolate and strawberry is available for 50 cents a quart at Carnegis Confectionery, Elks' Arcade.
