Jill Sommers, Silver Lake, took the senior showmanship title at the 1991 Northwest Indiana Angus Association open show in Winamac recently.
Mrs. Felipe A. (Azucena) Lopez and daughter Mrs. Randy A. (Maria) Oler of Warsaw, have returned from a three-week vacation in Europe. They also attended the graduation of Mrs. Lopez' son, Felipe J. Lopez of Furth/Bay, Germany, who graduated from The University of Maryland, European Division with a B.S. degree of Business Administration and Management.
Harold K. "Andy" Fowler, son of Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Fowler, of near North Manchester, has been awarded the Purple Heart in Korea, according to a letter received by his parents. He was reported to have been wounded in the chest while serving food to front line companies during a heavy attack by the enemy. He serves as a cook in the 88th regiment headquarters company of the Second Infantry division.
A plentiful crop has resulted in a drop in the price of strawberries since Saturday. The fruit is retailing at $1.75 a crate and a further drop is likely before the end of the present week.
