LOS ANGELES - Lorene Spearman, who two weeks ago led the Wawasee High School girls' track team to the school's first state championship in history, showed her two individual and one relay event victories in Indiana were no fluke here.

Competing in the National AAU Junior meet, she placed fifth in the 100 meter dash and then anchored the "Indy Chevette" 400 relay team to a first place finish.

Dr. J.L. Baker, South Buffalo Street, is recovering at the Murphy Medical Center, from an eye infection caused by a rather unusual accident at his office. As he was removing a tooth from a patient's mouth, the crown broke off and hit the dentist in the eye, causing a deep scratch in which infection developed. It was reported that his eye is healing satisfactorily.
