    INDIANAPOLIS - Kristin Hort, Warsaw, has received the 1992 High School Journalism Safety Award sponsored by the Insurance Institute of Indiana.

Hori, a student at Warsaw Community High school, received a $250 scholarship and plaque for her article "SADD Fighting, Winning Race Against Drinking, Drugs," published in the school newspaper, Tracks.

    Angie Ross, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Ross, Mentone, was crowned queen of the Mentone Egg Festival Saturday. The queen will be a junior at Tippecanoe Valley High School this fall. Other queen candidates were Kathy Banghart, Sarah Jamison, Teri Breidert and Loni Parks.

June 13 1952

    Edwin E. Cashman, son of Rev. and Mrs. Arthur Cashman, Winona Lake, received a gold key at the commencement exercises of Bob Jones University, denoting the highest scholastic standing of the entire student body for the past year. He graduated with cumme laude honors in the senior class. Cashman was a member of the 1948 graduating class of Warsaw High School.

    Perhaps the only regular army veteran of the Indian wars of the late '70's, living in this county is William Allen of 625 E. Arthur St., Warsaw. Allen, only eight years of age at the time of the Civil War, joined the regular army when of age and fought with the famous Indian fighters in Texas, along the Rio Grande River and in Oklahoma, then known as Indian Territory.
