    Reaching an 80th birthday is an accomplishment in itself, but when twins reach an 80th birthday, it takes a little something extra. Warsaw resident Bernice Ashman and her twin sister, Beatrice Mobley, of Biloxi, Miss., celebrated their birthdays together with family and friends in Warsaw.

June 11 1973

    Deputy Marshal Boyce Howard and wife, Helen, 301 Seventh St., recently returned from a 16-day tour of Mexico. Mrs. Howard is the clerk-treasurer for Winona Lake. The Howards reported a wonderful and rewarding trip. The only complaint the deputy made was the fact they missed seeing the bullfights.

June 11 1948

    President Truman's special train, carrying him on an 18-state speaking tour, went through Warsaw on the Pennsylvania Railroad en route to Chicago at 2:13 p.m. The several dozen persons assembled along the railroad from Buffalo Street to the depot saw nothing to distinguish the presidential special from any other fast train.


75 Years Ago
June 11 1923

    Dairy barns on the J.E. Guy farm have been completed and are among the finest in this vicinity. The barns are equipped with Louden stalls and stanchions, cement floors, mangers and a Cloverleaf milker. Mr. Guy has 20 tuberculosis tested Holstein cows in his barn.
