    After completing more than 40 hours of classes, nine Warsaw firefighters are qualified to offer medical assistance in emergency situations.

Those receiving certification are Dusty Rhoades, Duane Patterson, Matt Warren, Larry Baker, Tom Drummond, Terry Himes, Mike Rice, Kerry Stogsdill and Tom Holderman.

    Ray E. Plummer, Warsaw, has been appointed to the external affairs committee of the Indiana Association of Certified Public Accountants.

The appointment was made by Eugene H. Ewen of Highland, the association's president.

    C. Joseph Freund, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Freund, South Whitley, will graduate from DePauw University on Sunday. He is a graduate of South Whitley High School and will enter the Northwestern School of Medicine this fall.

    Eldo Becknell, older brother of Robert Becknell, who was married Monday in South Bend, was forced to actually "dance in the hog trough" at the corner of Market and Buffalo streets on Monday evening at the belling he planned for the newlyweds. It seems that it is an old custom for an older unmarried brother to dance at the marriage of his younger brother.
