    Penguin Point and Tarkio Road gave away three bicycles on Father's Day. Winners were Sam Morrison, of Warsaw; Clarence Hill, of Sidney; and Diana Regel, Winona Lake.

    A new humane officer was hired by Kosciusko County Humane Commission members during a special meeting Monday night in the City Building.

Daniel Martin, 23, of Winona Lake, has assumed his new duties. Former Humane Officer Scott Clawson resigned from that post last week.

July 9 1953

    Chuck Mishler became the new leader of the Happy Bachelor 4-H Club, of Milford, at a meeting held June 30 at the high school. Mishler replaced Roy Naugle, who is now residing in LaPorte County.

July 9 1928

    ROCHESTER - Members of the Odd Fellows Lodge at Fulton celebrated the Fourth of July by helping their sick brother, Clinton Weller. The lodgemen gathered at the home of Mr. Weller and cultivated 30 acres of corn for him. Ten teams were used for the plowing while the other members of the group used hoes to remove the weeds. Hugh Miller was the captain of the volunteers.
