    At least one Hoosier voice will ring out later this month when the 100-member Fred Waring U.S. Chorus gives two performances in the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Joely A. Earl, the daughter of James and Judith Earl, Rt. 4, Warsaw, was chosen after submitting an audition tape, photos and an application.

    The Town of Claypool in Kosciusko County will celebrate its 100th year during the month of July.

The first person to be recognized as a permanent settler was George Luke, who built a cabin and established permanent residence in August of 1836.

July 9 1948

    Passengers on the Warsaw-Winona Lake motor bus no longer get mild electric shocks when they take hold of the bus door-handle. A metal chain has been attached to the bus and dangling to the ground discharges the static electricity which had been "biting" the passengers.

July 9 1923

    Police were called to the old Lones farm, north of Warsaw last night, when Mr. Emmons, tenant, reported that auto chicken thieves were raiding his coops.
