The Nelsons will fly across the county with Jerry Hull of Adventures in Ballooning. The ride was awarded in conjunction with the 1990 Parade of Homes.

Kosciusko County's observance of the American Bicentennial celebration was officially opened at a historic site on the Tippecanoe River.

The occasion was the dedication ceremony for a 140-foot iron bridge across the river that has been leased to the Kosciusko County Historical Society. The old bridge, located three and one-half miles west of Warsaw near Old Road 30, was built in 1897 by the Bellfountaine Bridge and Iron Co., of Bellfountaine, Ohio, for $2,520.

The Fourth found OUR TOWN AND COUNTY packed to the gills with the holiday crowd. The municipal beach on Center Lake was crammed with picnickers, swimmers, sunbathers and the usual quota of showoffs kicking sand in other people's faces, standing on their hands and splashing water. Lots of epidermis was on display.

The glorious Fourth was celebrated at Winona Lake with probably seven or eight thousand people on the grounds. The various contests furnished much amusement. The greased pig contest was won by Cass Dye; the tug of war by Warsaw firemen; the water battle, one of the most spectacular, was a tie; the Warsaw Boys' Club won the majority of the field events in the field meet; while the Boy City boys did some wonderful work during the day.
