    Friends, relatives and customers helped Robert "Pinky" Eherenman celebrate his 60th birthday. He is the operator of Pinky's 76 service station in downtown Warsaw. The rumor that Pinky was giving away gasoline in celebration of the occasion could not be confirmed.

July 4 1972

    For the eighth consecutive year families in the Warsaw community are offering two-week vacations to children of all races from Chicago's inner city. The program initiated in 1964 by the First Methodist and First Presbyterian Church hopes that vacations may be offered this summer to more than 150 children, most of whom have disadvantaged backgrounds.

    The old Warsaw-Winona bus, replaced a year or so ago by larger and more modern rolling stock, is now doing duty hauling section hands for the Winona railway between Warsaw and Milford.


75 Years Ago
July 4 1922

    Milford town marshal, Mose Whistler, was engaged in painting auto parking signs when his revolver fell from its holster, struck the pavement and discharged, shooting a hole clear through his wrist. Whistler is most fortunate that the bullet did not strike a vital place.
